~Subway Signs~

I don't even need to tell anyone what these two pictures are pictures of. Subway signs, in my opinion is a very good example of graphic design. Everyone that lives in NYC has passed at least ONE subway station that has one of these signs. The person who designed this sign and the label for each train is ingenious. Even though it's such a simple sign, they both tell us enough to know if we can and should get on it to get to where we need to go and where we are currently standing. For example, The Whitehall Street Station one says that it is the Whitehall Street one and that one circle with an "R" tells us precisely what trains run in that station; the uptown and downtown "R" trains, which go to Queens and Brooklyn. The simplicity of this sign is what makes it really appealing. The designer really have made the lives of daily commuters much easier with such a simple but meaningful sign. Not only is it easily remembered, it's also easily read and the meaning/purpose is conveyed to the audience. That's what makes it a good example of graphic design.
