~Yusaku Kamekura~

Yusaku Kamekura is a Japanese man that became a student of the Institute of New Architecture and Industrial Arts. His work is strongly influenced by the Bauhaus movement but also combines it with his view of his heritage. His style is characterized by his straightforward designs that incorporates “abstract forms, planes, as well as photography. In terms of colors, he rarely used the primary colors, instead choosing to combine different hues of the primary colors. The simplicity of his work helped inspire people because they were bold and brilliant. Being of Japanese heritage, he helped inspire generations of Japanese people to become graphic designers and was named the pioneer of graphic design for Japan. However, he also influenced a few American graphic designers and helped with many logos such as the Shell gas company logo. In addition to helping design logos, he helped found centres such as the  Nippon Design Centre which brought together graphic designers from Japan which was being heavily influenced by the Western world.
